Eid ul-Fitr
(عيد الفطر) literally means "festive of breaking fast." As a Muslim, we should be happy celebrating it. Happy after fighting those desires. Happy after successfully defeated them for those who do. Not filling it with melancholic atmosphere. Not filling it with sorrow.
It is good to shed tears when having the 'touchy-feely' session. It shows that we are really regretting on wrongdoings that we have done to them. But, it doesn't mean that we have to be sad all day long.
I would like to say the trend that happens in Malays in Malaysia. When we watch Malay dramas on Eid ul-Fitr, it really intended to 'sentap' the hearts of those who watch it. I would like to express it again; Eid ul-Fitr is NOT about sadness and sorrow. It's about celebrating the triumph of Ramadan.
If you really know and go really deep into the meaning of 'takbir Raya', you will feel proud and happy instead of crying your lungs out.
In short, just enjoy yourself tomorrow. You can be sad, but not until ruining the real meaning of Eid ul-Fitr.
Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1433H/2012M
Maaf Zahir dan Batin
P.S.: Renung-renungkanlah pesanan Nabi SAAW yang lebih mengutamakan Aidiladha dari Aidilfitri...
